After seeing people fleeing the war in Ukraine, leaving their homes behind, and taking with them only what they could carry, Dennis and Kathy were moved to find a way to help. Dennis and Kathy were able to connect to Polina and bond over their mutual love of dogs. Polina, her son, and her friend Max moved to Hartville, S.C., and quickly felt embraced by Kathy and Dennis and their community.
